Kendra Stone
Self-taught artist working with acrylics and mixed media

I am passionate about painting although it has only been an active part of my life since 2014.

The onset of a debilitating illness changed my life’s course dramatically; I became housebound most of the time with ME/CFS. The words of Allen Saunders, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans,” rang true. In need of a creative outlet, something I could customize to accommodate the challenges of living with an unpredictable illness with no cure and simultaneously feel outside the daily preoccupations of managing the myriad symptoms, I turned to painting.

It’s an active exploration, a continuous learning process. Most often I am thinking about painting or contemplating the soul healing power of making art. I find myself looking at flowers as shapes and forms, studying the delicate anatomy of a bird’s wing, feeling absolutely delighted playing with color. I am discovering intriguing new ways to look at life opening up on canvas.

Due to physical limitations, I paint either from photographs or my imagination. I am not confined to one subject area and my style and methods continue to evolve the more I learn.

Currently, I am studying acrylic painting and mixed media techniques. I also enjoy art journaling.

I live and make art in Vallejo, California.

I am a self taught multi media artist who enjoys making all sorts of things from recycled materials. Before that I did luthiery , furniture building, and other wood working crafts. I am a carpenter by trade and member of the united brotherhood of carpenters. I have also played guitar and bass in several bay area garage bands, and moved to Vallejo in 2012 after mostly living in San Francisco and Oakland since 1979. I grew up in Richmond ca. I was surrounded by guns, drugs and violence. Art wasn’t even an elective at my high school. Never imagining that i possessed a talent, that realization that i did was life changing.
At the age of 16, I made a discovery. I discovered that i could draw. The circustances that I found myself in, at that time, were not ideal. Perhaps those same circumstances where needed for me to make this very discovery. I was able to draw what I saw. Not from memory, but from looking at he details. Not knowing any of the scholastic ways of drawing, I learned through trial and error. Not to mention Id meet other artist, over the years, who Id gain ideas from, which id adapt in my own way.
After numerous request from family friend and strangers, to purchase the work that hung in my mothers home. My mom suggested I try to sell prints of my work. Hesitant at first, I took the change and begun this journey.
My troubled past aside, ive been able to persevere to this point. This year is my first full year of offering my work to the public. Through trial, error and the obstacles of life, I present to you, my artistic vision.

Images Description:

My work is hand drawn in griphite pencil and or color pencil. My collection doesnt have a title. The pieces are on stretched canvas all approximately 16″×20″. Prices Range from $70-$175.

Jaime Lucero Jr. is a cinematographer, photographer, musician, and a Vallejo resident since birth.

(or from my website ruffianfilm.com)
Jaime is a full fledged art sonnoisseur, a jack of all trades attempting to master them all. Cinematography being his main squeeze, he also dabbles in photography, music and the subtle art of lockpicking. The wolves that raised him taught him the value of patience and hard work, and instilled a passion within that knows no compromise. He also does yoga.

I’ve attached a composite photo of my selection of black and white portrait photography for consideration. They would be presented in 8×10 lightweight low profile frames. There are 15 total but we can do less is space is limited. A little more background; alomst everyone in the photos live in solano county/ bay area. I do high end fashion/ glamour photography and the following set is a result of the silly in-between monents during a typical photoshoot.
I didnt really have any plans on selling the pieces but any advice would be helpful.
